How to treat deep open wounds

We agree you must see a doctor since deep wounds always require stitches or staples to close. It reduces scarring, promotes healing and avoids infection.


In the event of the injury, pressure directly on the wound is most critical. Using some kind of wrap, is suggested until real help can be found.


Large, but not terribly deep can be closed with butterfly style bandages, which are left on until they naturally fall off, usually in a week or so. When appropriate, some wounds are literally glued shut with the equivalent of super glue along with butterfly’s.
